Basketball Recap: Thrive Academy Comes Up Short

Thrive Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 66-33 loss at the hands of the IDEA Bridge Capitals. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

IDEA Bridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kemondrae Fleming out in front who went 13 for 20 on his way to 29 points and five steals. Fleming is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ray Melancon Jr., who went 6 of 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Thrive Academy is on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8. As for IDEA Bridge, they moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Belaire the next time they take the court. Thrive Academy will host Belaire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while IDEA Bridge will host them at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
