Baseball Game Preview: McKinney North Bulldogs vs. Aledo Bearcats

The McKinney North Bulldogs will square off against the Aledo Bearcats on Saturday. McKinney North is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.

McKinney North is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Midlothian, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Austin Sayman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKinney North's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Shelton, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles. That's the most hits Shelton has posted since back in March. Another was Cade Antosca, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Aledo came out on top against Colleyville Heritage on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Bearcats blew past the Panthers 13-2. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Aledo also got a great performance from Luke Sandefur as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Blake Burdine was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Dylan Duran was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Aledo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for McKinney North, their victory bumped their record up to 19-12-1.
