Softball Recap: Marionville Takes a Loss

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Marionville and Ash Grove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Comets fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Comets have suffered since March 22nd.

Ashlin Carr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, Marionville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Oczkus, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Marionville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Ash Grove, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.

Coming up, Marionville will venture away from home to face off against Skyline at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ash Grove, they will challenge Lockwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
