Volleyball Recap: American Heritage Comes Up Short

If American Heritage was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Don Soffer Aventura two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Somerset Academy Panthers on Wednesday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

While American Heritage had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21.

Jose Castaneda paced American Heritage's offense, picking up 11 kills. Castaneda got some help from Sean Kanji and his 22 assists. Anik Bora controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

American Heritage now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Somerset Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5.

American Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Immaculata-La Salle on the 3rd. As for Somerset Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Coral Springs Charter on the 7th.
