Softball Recap: Centennial's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of seven wins, Centennial's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to the Burleson Elks. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Elks earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Madison Haynes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Centennial's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 21-7. As for Burleson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Centennial and Burleson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 99th) will meet Mansfield Timberview (ranked 545th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Burleson will face off against Joshua at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (120 vs. 336).
