Preview: Lecanto Panthers vs. Nature Coast Tech Sharks

Lecanto has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Nature Coast Tech Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lecanto posted their biggest win since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Hernando 65-41. With that win, Lecanto brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Lecanto can attribute much of their success to Ijyana Edwards, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and six steals, and Bryleigh Florio, who scored 27 points along with seven steals. Florio is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Xena Bellamy, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Nature Coast Tech can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Hudson 56-19 on the road. The win was a breath of fresh air for Nature Coast Tech as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lecanto's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Nature Coast Tech, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Things could have been worse for Lecanto, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-34 loss to Nature Coast Tech when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Lecanto, Gabriella Lee (who scored 19 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
