The final MaxPreps regional baseball computer rankings find two new No. 1 teams to complete the 2017 season.
Wylie (Abilene, Texas), winner of the Texas Class 4A state championship, replaced Wakeland (Frisco, Texas) at No. 1 in the Southwest. Meanwhile, Central (Martinsburg, Pa.), the Pennsylvania Class AAA state champion, replaced St. John's (Shrewsbury, Mass.) as the top team in the Northeast.
The other three regions remained the same as the previous rankings with Eastlake (Chula Vista, Calif.) No. 1 in the West, Helena (Ala.) No. 1 in the South and Jefferson City (Mo.) No. 1 in the Midwest.
The
regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Baseball Computer
Rankings. The team's record and computer rating are noted in the
rankings. Numbers are current as of Tuesday.
The 50 states are divided into five regions as follows:
West: Hawaii, California, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado.
Southwest: Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona.
South:
Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia.
Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas.
Northeast:
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia.
States not included: Montana and Wyoming (do not have baseball), Iowa (season is during the summer).
