Softball Recap: Raynei Roy Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Dawson Springs

Webster County's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Dawson Springs Panthers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Layla Scott was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Raynei Roy was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Cartwright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Webster County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dawson Springs only managed one hit.

Webster County's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Dawson Springs, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Webster County will face off against Henderson County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dawson Springs, they will square off against Hopkinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
