Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carolyn Emanuel and Yaelis Gonzalez Lead Gaither to Victory

Gaither lost to Tampa Prep back in December of 2018, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Gaither Cowboys secured a 34-29 W over the Tampa Prep Terrapins.

Gaither was led to victory by Yaelis Gonzalez and Carolyn Emanuel. Gonzalez posted eight points and six steals, while Emanuel scored seven points in addition to nine boards and four steals. What's more, Gonzalez also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Russell, who had six points and nine rebounds.

Gaither's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Tampa Prep, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Gaither has already played their next contest, a 49-25 victory against Alonso on the 14th. As for Tampa Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-19 loss against Winthrop College Prep Academy on the 17th.
