Basketball Game Preview: Rocky River Ravens vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks

Rocky River is on a three-game streak of home losses, West Mecklenburg an 11-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rocky River came up short against Independence on Tuesday, falling 71-49. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Patriots are ranked 32nd).

Despite the defeat, Rocky River had strong showings from Jayden Ross, who posted 19 points in addition to five boards and four steals, and Jordan Walton, who earned 13 points and three steals. Walton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg took a blow against Mallard Creek on Tuesday, falling 75-44.

West Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Rocky River, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Rocky River strolled past West Mecklenburg in their previous matchup back in November of 2019 by a score of 75-59. Will Rocky River repeat their success, or does West Mecklenburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
