Softball Recap: Johnston Wins Going Away Against South Kingstown

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Johnston brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the South Kingstown Rebels on Tuesday. The Panthers have beaten the Rebels the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rebels has come to flipping the script.

Haley Boudreau was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kalyn Foster and Alanna Colon did most of the damage at the plate: Foster went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Colon went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Colon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Boudreau, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Johnston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Johnston's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for South Kingstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
