Baseball Game Preview: Roane County Raiders vs. Williamstown Yellowjackets

The Roane County Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Williamstown Yellowjackets at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roane County has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Roane County earned a 17-13 win over Braxton County. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

He is becoming a predictor of Roane County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). J GREATHOUSE was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Williamstown came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Hawks 10-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Williamstown's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Roane County, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Roane County suffered a grim 19-9 defeat to Williamstown in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
