Preview: Crest Chargers vs. North Gaston Wildcats
The Crest Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Gaston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Crest has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 61-48 to South Point on Tuesday.
Monica Surratt put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 20 points along with five steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaira Faulkner, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, North Gaston came up short against Ashbrook on Tuesday and fell 46-36.
Crest has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for North Gaston, they bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Crest against North Gaston in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-19 victory. Does Crest have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Gaston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
