Softball Game Preview: State College Little Lions vs. Central Dauphin Rams

The State College Little Lions will square off against the Central Dauphin Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (State College 3.9, Central Dauphin 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

State College is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Cumberland Valley just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 9-2 to the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Little Lions have suffered against the Eagles since April 10, 2018.

State College saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Harpster, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Central Dauphin faced Cumberland Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rams blew past the Eagles 9-3. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Central Dauphin pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for State College, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

State College skirted past Central Dauphin 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Little Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
