Softball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beech Buccaneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 18-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Grace Head was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Margret King, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Beech, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will venture away from home to take on Clarksville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beech, they will square off against Hendersonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
