Baseball Recap: Burgettstown's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Burgettstown extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 7-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the California Trojans. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Trojans on April 1st, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Burgettstown's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Elich, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for California, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs.

On California's side, Caden Monticelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Monticelli has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
