Basketball Recap: New Prairie Cougars vs. Wheeler Bearcats
New Prairie's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Wheeler Bearcats 54-34. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

New Prairie found their leader in sophomore Brody Wiginton, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. Wiginton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Hunter Nelson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
New Prairie was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheeler only racked up five assists.
Wheeler's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marek Barton, who posted five points. Another player making a difference was Tyne Vettickal, who had seven points.
New Prairie's win bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Wheeler, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Prairie will host South Bend St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Bend St. Joseph has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three games. As for Wheeler, they will be playing at home against Knox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
