Basketball Game Preview: Cohoes Tigers vs. La Salle Institute Cadets

The Cohoes Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the La Salle Institute Cadets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-41, which was the final score in Cohoes' tilt against Catholic Central on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while the Crusaders are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, La Salle Institute waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Red Raiders 43-41.

La Salle Institute's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Cohoes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Cohoes might still be hurting after the 52-30 loss they got from La Salle Institute in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of La Salle Institute's Kate Gilooly, who went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and four blocks.
