Game recap: Manatee High School Football Team beats Sarasota

BRADENTON, Fla. - Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) extended its winning streak to nine games with a 51-9 victory over Sarasota (Fla.) on Saturday.

The Hurricanes were up 35-3 at the half after taking the lead on a Cord Sandberg touchdown pass to Brodrick Yancy in the first quarter.

Manatee expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Trevon Walters.

Sandberg stood out for the Bradenton school in the win. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. A member of the Top Pro-Style Quarterbacks, Sandberg has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.

The Sailors' lone touchdown came on a 20-yard pass in the third quarter.



Led by Derrick Calloway, the Hurricanes came into the game allowing 13.4 points per game.

Manatee also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 52-14.

Manatee (9-0) will play a non-conference game against Lakewood Ranch next week, while Sarasota (3-6) will take on Bayshore also in a non-conference game.
