Volleyball Recap: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chatham Cavaliers.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 22-25, 15-9.

Leading Chatham to victory were Avery Norton and Calley Moser. Norton had five digs and three aces, while Moser had nine digs. Those three aces gave Norton a new career-high.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Chatham, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chatham beat Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy by a score of 2-0 later that day.
