Basketball Game Preview: Rochester Warriors vs. Elma Eagles

The Rochester Warriors will head out to square off against the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rochester is looking for their season's first victory.

Last Friday, Rochester was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Centralia.

Meanwhile, Elma fought the good fight in their overtime match against Kalama on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chinooks.

Rochester will have to keep a close watch on Isaac McGaffey and Traden Carter, a pair of players who had a big impact on Elma's prior game. McGaffey dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards, while Carter went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Carter's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Elma's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Rochester didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Elma in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 70-64 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rochester since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
