Baseball Recap: Penn Manor Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cedar Crest last Friday, Penn Manor came back down to earth. The Comets fell just short of the Manheim Township Blue Streaks by a score of 5-3 on Monday. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Blue Streaks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Oliver Hanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Penn Manor saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Billy Riggs, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Penn Manor's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Manheim Township, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Penn Manor will challenge Ephrata at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Manheim Township, they will take on Cedar Crest at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
