Softball Game Preview: Shoals Jug Rox vs. Bloomfield Cardinals

Shoals hasn't had much luck against Bloomfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jug Rox will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Shoals has given up an average of 19.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shoals is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against South Knox, falling 19-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Jug Rox were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 9-1. The Cardinals not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 14-4).

Farrah Hostetter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Lailey Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Lafree, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bloomfield now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Shoals, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
