Softball Recap: Eastern's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

It was a good run, but Eastern unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Southern Tornadoes by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 back in April.

Emma Putman 2025 was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Abigail Newland 2028 was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Southern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-3.

Looking ahead, Eastern will welcome Vinton County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern, they will head out to challenge Fisher Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Irish will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Tornadoes surely won't give up without a fight.
