Basketball Recap: Westran Snags 13th Victory in Last 15 Games

Westran entered their tilt with Salisbury on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Salisbury Panthers 58-44. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Panthers are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westran got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marshall Kitchen out in front who posted eight points and 15 rebounds. That's the most boards Kitchen has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jordan Black, who scored 11 points along with six assists and four steals.

Westran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Westran is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Salisbury, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Westran will be taking part in a tournament against New Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season. As for Salisbury, they will welcome Fayette at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
