Softball Recap: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Joliet West Tigers

St. Charles East proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 win over the Joliet West Tigers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Fighting Saints also won the last time the pair played back in June of 2019.

Kyli Dunn looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caleigh Higgins and Hayden Sujack did most of the damage at the plate: Higgins went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sujack went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Higgins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

St. Charles East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Charles East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.
