Soccer Recap: South Caldwell Comes Up Short

South Caldwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hibriten Panthers. While losing is never fun, South Caldwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Hibriten are ranked 84th).

South Caldwell's loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1. As for Hibriten, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Caldwell will challenge Watauga at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Caldwell's defense better be ready for this one: Watauga have averaged an impressive 4.2 goals per game this season. As for Hibriten, they will take on Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hibriten are facing Freedom at the right time seeing as Freedom are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
