Volleyball Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Davis Darts
The Lone Peak Knights are on the road again on Thursday to play the Davis Darts at 10:30 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Back in October, Lone Peak made easy work of Westlake and carried off a 3-0 win.
Lone Peak never let Westlake on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Peak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Tien, who had five digs and three aces. That's the most aces Tien has posted in her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Pope, who had three aces and 25 assists.
Lone Peak couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 40% of their attack attempts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westlake only posted a hitting percentage of 19%.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Davis had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Silverwolves , sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Darts as it spelled an end to their 13-game losing streak.
Davis was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 23-25, 22-25, 27-25, 15-13.
Davis relied on the efforts of Olivia Checketts, who had six digs and five aces, and Zoey Walsh, who had 14 digs. Walsh is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in the last four games she's played.
Lone Peak pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Davis, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-20.
