Volleyball Recap: Alton Redbirds vs. Maryville Christian Lions

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maryville Christian Lions. If the Redbirds were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Alton ultimately came up short, they really made Maryville Christian work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 21-25, 26-24, 15-9.

Madeleine Ducey paced Alton's offense, picking up eight kills. Ducey got some help from Mackenzie Cochran and her 11 assists. Gracie Milford and Lucy Lehmann kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Brooklynn Thien was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 11 digs and two assists.

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Maryville Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-7.
