Softball Recap: Coventry Falls Short Against Ranked Smithfield

Coventry faced Smithfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Oakers fell just short of the Sentinels by a score of 6-5. The Oakers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Coventry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabrielle Fennessey, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Izzy Dyl, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Coventry's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Smithfield, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Coventry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-1 victory against St. Mary Academy-Bay View on the 16th. As for Smithfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 14-6 win against Ponaganset on the 14th.
