Softball Recap: Punahou Beats Mid-Pacific Institute for Their Eighth Straight Win

Punahou put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 14-7 win two weeks ago.

Paige Brunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lexi Hinahara, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Austen Kinney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Punahou pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mid-Pacific Institute, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Punahou is set to take on their familiar foe 'Iolani at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Mid-Pacific Institute will face off against rival Maryknoll at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
