Baseball Recap: Rio Linda Comes Up Short

Rio Linda extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 13-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Casa Roble Rams. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by just one run.

Skylar Olson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ayden Crawford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Carlos Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Casa Roble, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They haven't had any issues with Rio Linda recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

On Casa Roble's side, Ian Peatross was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Rams are undefeated when Peatross posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

While Rio Linda had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
