Softball Recap: Owen J. Roberts Has No Trouble Against Unionville

Owen J. Roberts was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Unionville Longhorns 13-1.

Maddie Reed was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Reed was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Atkins, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Liza Flavin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.

Owen J. Roberts was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unionville only posted a batting average of .045.

Owen J. Roberts' victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Unionville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Owen J. Roberts and Unionville will both be playing Great Valley the next time they take the field. Owen J. Roberts will host Great Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while Unionville will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
