Basketball Recap: Horizon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Skyline

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horizon). They claimed a resounding 64-12 victory over the Skyline Falcons. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Falcons are ranked 285th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaitlin Schumann continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Lilah Calabrese was another key player, putting up nine points.

Horizon was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Keira Reuter, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Reuter has posted since back in December of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Horizon and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.0 points over those games. As for Skyline, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Looking ahead, Horizon will head out to square off against Centaurus at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Skyline, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Skyline surely won't give up without a fight.
