Calvary Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Cardinal Gibbons 22-7. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Carlos Lugo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Calvary Christian Academy: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Preston Bielec was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braden Rosenthal, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Calvary Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pine Crest was able to grind out a solid victory over Pompano Beach on Tuesday, taking the game 4-1.
Brady Bushnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Obst, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Baker, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Pine Crest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their record is now 13-9-3.
Calvary Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 22-15 defeat they got from Pine Crest in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
