After both having extra time off, the Heritage Christian Eagles and the Belleview Christian Bruins will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Belleview Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Heritage Christian made easy work of Union Colony Prep and carried off a 3-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Heritage Christian was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-9, 25-9.
Heritage Christian can attribute much of their success to Abby Leveillee, who had 13 digs and two assists.
Heritage Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last five matches.
Meanwhile, Belleview Christian came up short against Dayspring Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14, 25-15.
Heritage Christian will have to keep a close watch on Harjas Thiara and Galilea De Casas, a pair of players who had a big impact on Belleview Christian's prior game. Thiara had nine digs and three assists, while De Casas had seven digs.
Heritage Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Belleview Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Heritage Christian has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Belleview Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
