Salisbury School has gone a perfect 8-0 against Frederick Gunn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Crimson Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Highlanders at 2:30 p.m. Salisbury School will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Salisbury School came out on top against Wilbraham & Monson Academy on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Crimson Knights never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Crimson Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
Blake Taylor looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nasir Stevenson and Michael Fiatarone did most of the damage at the plate: Stevenson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Fiatarone got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That triple was Stevenson's first of the season. Kaleb Traylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Salisbury School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frederick Gunn). Everything went their way against Berkshire School on Saturday as they made off with an 11-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Highlanders with their most commanding win of the season.
Frederick Gunn also got a great performance from Trey LaMay as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts LaMay has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Travis Lapinsky, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Bailey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Salisbury School's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Frederick Gunn, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.
Frederick Gunn's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Salisbury School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Frederick Gunn, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Salisbury School's hitters?
