Baseball Recap: Melba Has No Trouble Against Wendell

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cole Valley Christian, Melba was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Wendell Trojans 9-2. The Mustangs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Brooks, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gerrit Weirsma, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory got Melba back to even at 1-1. As for Wendell, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melba will host Baker at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wendell, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against American Falls at 4:00 p.m.
