Baseball Recap: Cabrillo Find Success

Cabrillo posted their closest win since February 26th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Righetti Warriors 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Conquistadores: when they faced off against the Warriors last Wednesday, they had to take a 8-7 defeat.

Thomas Kiesling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Cabrillo is 3-1 when Kiesling allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Blake Gregory was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Cabrillo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Cabrillo now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Righetti, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Cabrillo will square off against Lompoc at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Righetti, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Morro Bay on the 12th.
