Softball Recap: Ponder Has No Trouble Against Valley View

Ponder never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 24-0 margin over the Valley View Eagles. That 24 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Vada Cochrum made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Skyler Medders was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Harlee Ponce, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Ponder's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. Ponder's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Castleberry's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Valley View will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ponder at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th.
