Baseball Game Preview: Lubbock Westerners vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

For the second straight game, Lubbock will face off against Lubbock-Cooper. The Westerners will be playing at home against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lubbock's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lubbock came up short against Lubbock-Cooper on Monday, falling 10-1.

Lubbock got a good showing from Andres Alvarez, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Alvarez has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Lubbock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toby Flores, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lubbock-Cooper is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lubbock, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9-1.
