Baseball Recap: Stover Takes a Loss

Stover blew Climax Springs out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Climax Springs got their revenge. Stover fell just short of Climax Springs by a score of 18-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Stover got a good showing from Michael Belt, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Jaxon Simon led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Luke Viebrock, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Stover's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Climax Springs, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Stover will head out to challenge Versailles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Climax Springs, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Climax Springs Cougars challenge Halfway Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
