Baseball Game Preview: Florida State University High School Seminoles vs. Oakleaf Knights

The Florida State University High School Seminoles will face off against the Oakleaf Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Florida State University High School will be strutting in after a victory while Oakleaf will be coming in after a loss.

Florida State University High School is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Godby 13-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Seminoles have posted since March 21, 2024.

Cole Allbaugh was a standout: he scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Those stolen bases marked the first that he's stolen this season. Chris Copa was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Oakleaf entered their contest against Clay on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Oakleaf lost 7-1 to Clay. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Oakleaf also got a good showing from Jackson Clark, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Clark gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Oakleaf saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Wynne, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Florida State University High School's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4. As for Oakleaf, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Florida State University High School came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakleaf in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florida State University High School since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around.
