Basketball Game Preview: Wagoner Bulldogs vs. Purcell Dragons

The Wagoner Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Purcell Dragons at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wagoner's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

Wagoner took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Inola 60-33. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Longhorns are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Purcell didn't have quite enough to beat Washington on Tuesday and fell 64-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in December of 2024 (56), the Dragons still had to take the loss.

Purcell now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Wagoner, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Wagoner opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-45 loss to Purcell. Can Wagoner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
