Aiden Jetter made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Saylor, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Western Brown is 3-1 when Saylor posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. William Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
Western Brown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clermont Northeastern only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Reading brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Finneytown on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Blue Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 28-0).
Like Western Brown, Reading also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor Davis. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Davis has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Charlie Hess was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Reed, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Reading's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Western Brown, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
