Basketball Game Preview: Leavitt Hornets vs. Cape Elizabeth Capers

The Leavitt Hornets will square off against the Cape Elizabeth Capers on Wednesday. Leavitt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Leavitt was able to grind out a solid victory over Maranacook, taking the game 63-56.

Meanwhile, Cape Elizabeth came up short against Portland on Friday and fell 78-71. While losing is never fun, the Capers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Leavitt pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Cape Elizabeth, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Leavitt strolled past Cape Elizabeth when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 66-49. Will Leavitt repeat their success, or does Cape Elizabeth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
