Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Regional Panthers vs. Greater Latrobe Wildcats

The Franklin Regional Panthers will face off against the Greater Latrobe Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Franklin Regional comes in on four and Greater Latrobe on five.

Franklin Regional barely beat Kiski Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cavaliers an 8-0 shutout last Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Franklin Regional got a great performance from James Templeton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Templeton a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Chase Lemke was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. NJ Ramchandran was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Franklin Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kiski Area only posted a batting average of .125.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Greater Latrobe sidestepped Kiski Area for a 6-4 victory.

Greater Latrobe's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Franklin Regional, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
