Softball Recap: Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles vs. Northeastern Knights
Cambridge City Lincoln had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it eight. They lost 11-1 to the Northeastern Knights. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Cambridge City Lincoln saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Pitcock, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Northeastern, their record now sits at 10-7. Considering they have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Northeastern's side, Hailey Elsrod made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Elsrod has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabella Peed, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macey Oler, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Cambridge City Lincoln will take on Randolph Southern at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Northeastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
