Soccer Game Preview: Freeman vs. Royal

The Freeman Golden Eagles will square off against the Royal Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Freeman came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 4-1 to Navasota. While losing is never fun, Freeman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Navasota are ranked 46th).

Freeman's goal came courtesy of Gabriel Colmenares, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, Royal came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Royal, who have now won 12 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Royal's victory bumped their record up to 17-1-1. As for Freeman, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
