Baseball Recap: Bellefonte Takes a Loss

Bellefonte was the 11-1 winner over Bishop McCort when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Crushers by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.

Peyton Vancas was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Evan Mattern made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Quentin Crouthamel, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Bellefonte's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Bishop McCort, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Bellefonte didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 victory against State College on the 25th. As for Bishop McCort, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 14-4 defeat against Somerset on the 24th.
